Photo Sales Going All-Digital
The Western History and Genealogy Photo Sales and the Digital Imaging Lab has been an integral part of the department for many years. Since we transitioned 10 years ago from the old Photoswest database to our Digital Collections, powered by CONTENTdm, we've added thousands of new images. We sell these images all over the world to researchers, publishers, hobbyists, and many other lovers of Western history.
The sales of the images, both print and digital, as well as the use fees, support the operation of the Digital Imaging Lab. Sales of our images help buy archival print paper and archival ink for printing and fund the salary of the image technician, along with general overhead. Needless to say, there is not a high profit margin.
Due to limited resources and staffing, WHG and the Digital Imaging Lab will no longer be able to provide prints of our images for purchase beginning on February 22, 2021.
Please be assured that digital images from our Digital Collections are still available for purchase.
For those customers who require a print, here is a list of suggested vendors, although we encourage you to shop around for the printing solution that best fits your needs:
We hope that this change does not cause an inconvenience, and please know that you will still be able to obtain high-quality digital files from our Digital Collections.
