As many shoppers head to the Internet this Cyber Monday, we recall a time when holiday shopping was done downtown, at Denver's Daniels and Fisher Department Store.
The Denver Public Library's Western History and Genealogy Department (WHG) has packaged up the history of this bygone retailer with the following features:

I have my dad’s blue velvet smoking jacket from daniels and fisher Denver my mom told me she bought it for dad shortly after they were married in 1941 they were staying at my moms parents house lo wells and Margaret wells where my grandfather owned a produce store named lo wells produce. My grandmother worked at
My grandmother worked at Daniel's and Fisher Dept Store in the late 1940's or early 1950's I believe. She worked in the hankie dept. Many prominent ladies bought hankies there. She told me she sold one for $100.00 once. All the cases in the store were made with heavy glass and mahogany. Beautiful. Oh how I loved going into that store to see my grandmother!

I believe the name of the longtime doorman at D & F's was Carl. Is that correct.
