After several weeks of closure, the Blair-Caldwell African American Research Library’s third-floor museum reopened last week!
Restoring the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems was a top priority for the Denver Public Library’s facilities teams, ensuring the library’s renowned museum remains accessible to the community and visitors nationwide. However, the space will require a more permanent, reliable upgrade.
The Vibrant Denver Bond, which passed thanks to voters last year, will benefit many of our Denver Public Library locations and includes much-needed upgrades to Blair-Caldwell’s second and third floors. Most of the renovations will affect behind-the-scenes systems, so you may not be able to see all the upgrades once we are done. These upgrades ensure our treasured archives and collections remain safe for generations to come.
Next steps for Vibrant Denver Bond work include engaging the community, working with experts to develop a realistic scope, and creating a rough timeline.
