The Blair-Caldwell African American Research Library has temporarily closed its third floor due to HVAC issues until further notice. The third floor is home to the library's Black history museum, renowned for capturing untold and often-neglected stories of Black communities in the West and across America.
Programs and events typically held in this space have been rescheduled or moved to the Denver Central Library, 10 W. 14th Ave Pkwy. This includes the 3rd annual Black History Month Art Exhibit, which now kicks off its opening reception at the Denver Central Library on Saturday, Dec. 6, at 2 p.m. at the Vida Ellison Gallery on Floor 7. Denverites can enjoy the exhibit any time during the Denver Central Library's open hours from Dec. 6 through March 14, 2026.
Denver Public Library facilities are working hard to fix the HVAC issues, but no completion time is available at this time. Stay tuned to this page and the Blair-Caldwell Library Facebook page for updates.
