The start of a new school year is an excellent time to announce our ongoing and new services for students and teachers. The Western History and Genealogy Department has a large archive of primary source materials related to Colorado and the West that we would love to share with you! In addition to our growing set of Colorful Coloradans biographies, we have additional offerings for teachers looking to increase their students' experience with primary sources.
We provide student tours that can be paired with workshops in which the students are able to break into groups, dig into primary sources, and share with their class the variety of details and perspectives they encountered. Our pre-made sets cover everything from Sand Creek to Japanese Internment to Women's Suffrage, but we are happy to cover additional topics to meet class needs. We can also fulfill requests for copies of primary source materials (newspapers, pamphlets, photographs, etc.) directly to teachers. These can be sent electronically or picked up in person.
Just let us know your subject area and what types of materials you are looking for! Contact us directly, or check to see the full list of Denver Public Library educator services.
