Keli Schmid Honored at Fort Drum

Special Collections and Archives' own Archivist/Librarian Keli Schmid was named a “Warrior Legend” for her nine years of service preserving the history of the 10th Mountain Division at the Denver Public Library. Keli was one of three new inductees to the 10th Mountain Division Warrior Legend Hall of Fame. Maj. Gen. Scott Naumann, 10th Mountain Division and Fort Drum Commander, recognized the recipients for their “embodiment of sacrifice, service, and selflessness. They are pillars of the 10th Mountain Division community.” 

Keli Schmid, Archivist for the 10th Mountain Division Resource Center at DPL, received the honor on June 20th at Mountainfest, an annual event held at the active 10th Mountain Division’s headquarters in Fort Drum, New York. The festivities included reenactments, demonstrations, and a dedication ceremony for a building named after “Minnie” (Charles Minot) Dole, an original member of the 10th Mountain Division, the ski troops who trained for mountain and winter warfare during WWII at Camp Hale, Colorado. 

We congratulate Keli Schmid on the well-deserved recognition of her work with veterans, their descendants, and researchers who come to DPL from all over the world to research the 10th Mountain Division.
