Denver's "Other Miss Sabin": Florence's sister Mary

Comments

Thanks for this biography, Sarah! I had assumed Sabin World School was named after Florence, and had no idea about her less-famous (but equally interesting) sister. I'm glad at your work to rescue her name from oblivion.

Thanks for reading, Laura! Glad you enjoyed it.

I have a scanned copy of the original dedication program for Sabin Elementary School in Harvey Park (which I scanned while borrowing an original copy of the program from the school), and indeed, the program dedicates the school to both women!

Excellent. Thank you for sharing, Atom!

Mary Sabin, we applaud your strong will & many accomplishments! Because of your efforts so many have benefited in education and appreciation of our beautiful state. I am associated with both Colorado Mountain Club & Rocky Mountain National Park, so thank you, thank you!

What kind words for Ms. Sabin! Thank you for reading and commenting, Linda.

As a CMC member, I was privileged to co-develop a presentation for the Club's Centennial Year in 2012. It was during the research phase of the project I first learned of Mary Sabin's influence and constant efforts in bringing a fledgling idea of a "mountain climbing club" to fruition.
