Ethiopia Reads Presents
A Celebration of Landscape, Culture and Art
On Display until October 31, 2014
Blair-Caldwell Library - Level 1 and Level 3
Four artists -- 2 Ethiopian and 2 American -- traveled together to depict the beauty of the Ethiopian countryside through paint and photography. Their work will be on display at the Blair-Caldwell African American Research Library, along with art by local Denver artists with Ethiopian ties, during the month of October.
About the Organization:
Ethiopia Reads was founded in 1998 with the goal of providing much needed in-language books to the children of Ethiopia. The vision quickly grew and by 2012, Ethiopia Reads had planted over 60 libraries across Ethiopia and had kicked off an unmatched librarian and educator peer mentoring and training program. Today, Ethiopia Reads is a new organization with a focus on schools, libraries, young athlete education and mentorship and educator training. We move forward with a focus toward working within Ethiopian communities and partnering with those communities to cultivate minds for a stronger tomorrow. To date, we have served 120,000 children.
PLEASE NOTE: Library hours are Monday and Wednesday 12-8 p.m., Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., closed Sunday
