I was brought up knowing my grandfather on my mother's side was Cherokee, last name being SPROUSE, yet how can I prove this? Enrolling 2 kids intro College and this info would help immensely.

Just so everyone knows even if you have 35%-45% Native DNA on your DNA tests AND have your documents about your ancestors without it saying NATIVE AMERICAN on those documents you will be S.O.L. MANY people of Hispanic origins are having this problem while their ancestor was FROM a tribe in the United States unless it says Indian or Native American AND you are on their recent rolls you WILL be denied entry to most tribes in the U.S.. So basically those people have to IGNORE almost HALF of their DNA due to outdated blood laws created during the Civil War era!! These are the outdated rules the tribes are continuing to go by rules that separate all of us from each other .
