This month marks the first anniversary of the Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander Community Cookbook. The goal of this project was to engage with these communities and celebrate AA.NH/PI heritage through recipes and personal stories that community members wanted to share with others. Thanks to our contributors the cookbook includes sixteen recipes and stories!
In total, over 350 full-color, bound print copies were handed out free at various Asian American community events in Denver over the course of 2023 and 2024. We saw high interest in the books, and made new community connections, including one that led to the Kimiko Side Papers coming to the library. Print copies of the cookbook are available for check out at various Denver Public Library locations, and the cookbook is also accessible online for free. A display featuring the cookbook will be on view at Central Library on the 5th floor in the Special Collections and Archives beginning November 2024.
