This gallery depicts the area now known as Denver's River North Art District ("RiNo") before it underwent rapid redevelopment beginning in the 21st century. The district is part of Denver's Five Points, Elyria-Swansea, Globeville, and Cole neighborhoods. Boundaries of the area are: I-70 to the north, I-25 to the west, Park Avenue West to the south, and Arapahoe Street to the east.
Land use and transportation changes in the area were proposed by the City and County of Denver's River North Plan in 2003, which called for improvements to transit, infrastructure, housing, economic activity, and the natural environment.
In 2005, local artists Tracy Weil and Jill Hadley-Hooper formed the River North Art District to connect arts organizations in the area. As of 2021, the River North Art District (RiNo) includes a registered neighborhood organization, state certified creative district, business improvement district, and general improvement district.
