If you have a love of aviation, airplanes and airlines, our department is the place to visit! Did you know we have an aviation collection called the Ross-Barrett Aeronautical Collection (WH1634)? The collection contains various publications, surveys, maps, pamphlets, correspondence, newspaper and magazine clippings, photographs, and postcards, about airplanes, airports, air travel, and airlines with an emphasis on the period through the end of World War II. We also have the Frontier Airlines Records, 1940-2009 (WH989), and the City and County of Denver, Stapleton International Airport Records, 1929-1999 (WH2011). In addition, we have hundreds of books covering the histories of various Denver airlines, such as United, Frontier and Continental.
While you're here, take a look at the 1963 United Airlines Air Atlas (pictured). See where you or your parents traveled on United Airlines before it became the huge international airline it is today. Reminisce about the glamor of air travel, as you were pampered by Mary Mainliner, your United stewardess. So fly on down to the Western History/Genealogy department and soar above the clouds with our various airplane and airline books and collections!
