Wilbur Williams House

1434 Baseline Rd, Boulder 80302

The 1937 International style brick house, as designed by noted Modernist architect James M. Hunter, included a two-story center section flanked by two one-story wings. Plain brick stringcourses on the second story and multi-paned casement windows accented the dwelling's clean lines and angles. The centered entry area extended from the facade and was set within a curved wall of glass brick with slender columns supporting a semi-circular balcony above. A similar balcony on the rear topped a large curved bay window. Hunter's award winning design fit the sloping lot and incorporated principles of passive solar design. Extensive alterations occurring during the 1980s resulted in the building's no longer being eligible for listing.
