1000 Osage St, Denver 80204
The Buckhorn Exchange is one of Denver's oldest and best-known historic restaurant/bars. Built in late 1885 or early 1866, the building was first owned by John M. Berkey. The Neef Brothers Brewery and Investment Company took title to the property in 1889. It was used as a saloon, the Rio Grande Exchange, beginning in November 1892 under the operation of Henry H. Zeitz. The name was changed to Buckhorn Exchange in the early 1900s, and in 1932 Zeitz bought the building. The bar, built in Essen, Germany, and the hundreds of mounted animals bagged by Zeitz and his son, are impressive.
