Wow Photo Wednesday ~ Fun With Old Cars
Wow - The automobile is a ubiquitous reminder of the mechanization of our society, and an iconic object/symbol that evokes so much more than simple transportation. We express ourselves with our vehicles, and their shapes and appearances communicate the identity of the driver as much as many of the other markers people choose, be it clothing, hair style, or accessories. Our Digital Collections are replete with great car photos, which you can read more about in our blog entry: "Sedans, Coupes and Tin Lizzies," or view our gallery below, which features a selection of our many vehicle pictures, or you can search our Digital Collections for automobile and truck images.
"Wow Photo Wednesday" celebrates photographs in the Denver Public Library's Digital Collections that have "The Wow Factor" and that highlight the myriad delightful nuggets in our database.

Interesting photos. I liked looking at the backgrounds in some of them and seeing the history. I think the "Galloping Goose" is now at the train museum outside Golden. There was also a truck with a swastika on it, so I'm guessing that was during WW2, possibly supporting the US in the war effort? Also saw the Rhoads name a couple times, which is familiar. The Rhoads maybe donated their photos? I'll have to look up the Rhoads again. Cool to see the first King Soopers too. They are somewhat still using the same sign fonts. Thanks!
