Marriage Equality in Colorado
The IMLS funded grant, Creating Your Communities (CYC), is going offline on January 31, 2015. We endeavored to retain many community member's stories and photographs from the CYC website. One of these communities is the Support of Marriage Equality in Colorado. Marriage Equality Colorado is a community organization whose mission is to promote and advocate for full marriage equality in Colorado. Their mission is to utilize a variety of educational tools and techniques including online media, community organization and activism, and grassroots mobilization. You can find more information about the organization on their Facebook page, or their website. The state of Colorado has provided limited recognition of same-sex unions in the form of designated beneficiary agreements since July 1, 2009, and as civil unions since May 1, 2013. Same sex marriage was legalized on October 7, 2014. Here is more information about the history of same sex marriage and civil unions in Colorado.
