It Is Genealogy Lecture Time!
No plane ticket necessary! Boarding pass and carry-on not needed!
Been enjoying The Learning Channel’s TLC Who Do You Think You Are? series! Have enjoyed watching Cynthia Nixon, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, the McAdams sisters and Valerie Bertinelli discover facts about their ancestors. My frustration with shows like WDYTYA? is that instead of going to the local library to explore their roots they get on airplanes and fly across the globe. Suppose frequent flyer miles make for great television, but are not a sound research method.
Over the course of the next few months, you have the opportunity to hear and interact with some of the best genealogical lecturers in the country. The following folks are coming to a library or lecture hall near you. Now frequent flyer miles will come into play as local societies bring in these wonderful speakers for you. After all, someone has to pay for a plane ticket and lecture fees. There are minor charges for these events. The exception being Barbara Vines Little, as the Denver Public Library is underwriting this event through the generosity of the estate of Joane Classen, former genealogy specialist in the Genealogy Collection at DPL.
