Creating Your Community Going Offline January 31, 2015
A big thank you to all the Creating Your Community (CYC) users for sharing, connecting and preserving your Colorado history for the last three years with the Denver Public Library! Together we have have created over 100 communities and collected over 1,000 photos and 800 stories! The project was funded by the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) in 2010 to create a new way for citizen archivists to engage with their history. The grant project ended in May 2014 and it has been decided that the CYC website will be taken down on January 31, 2015. Don't despair, most of the photos and stories are available in our Digital Collections and on our Genealogy, African American and Western History Resources Website. Thank you for connecting and sharing your history!

This was a fun way to share my neighborhood memories. I am glad the information will be accessible in another format. The staff who made this happen deserve a big applause!
I'm sad to find that the website is offline after contributing my photos to it. Can't it stay online and just not be updated anymore? This was a great project.
Hi Liz! We're glad that you contributed and enjoyed the site. Unfortunately, we were unable to maintain the site after the grant ended. However, we've been working to move all of the photos over to our digital collections, so they are still available for everyone to view!
