I first visited Denver in 1961. We stayed in the Cory Hotel downtown, visited the zoo, the Montgomery Ward building (where we experienced our first elevator), May D&F, the Capitol building, the Celebrity Sports Center (where we encountered our first automatic door), and then Larimer Street. He took us to Larimer Street so we could see the winos. Apparently, this was an important part of the Denver experience, at least in my father's mind.
