Mary Margaret Davis

Mary Margaret Davis

May her memory be eternal!

Mary Davis enjoyed her job. She was the face of genealogy in Colorado Springs.  She was for many years the genealogy librarian in Local History and Genealogy, Penrose Library, Pikes Peak Library District, Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Mary enjoyed working with the Pikes Peak Genealogy Society book selection committee as they decided how to spend their aquisitions money. She was a charter member of PPGS and was a frequent attendee at the quarterly meetings of the Colorado Council of Genealogical Societies.  She served as Library Committee Chair for several years with the Council. She wrote and encouraged librarians throughout Colorado to describe their collections for researchers through articles in the newsletter of CCGS.  Mary was nominated for the P. William Filby Award for excellence in genealogical librarianship from the National Genealogical Society by Pikes Peak Genealogical Society.

Mary Margaret Davis passed away Friday, 12 October 2012. She was born 13 August 1931 in Lola, Kansas to Mary Ellen Burns and Harold Ray Kelley. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert "Bob" Davis. She is survived by her two sons Gregory and Geoffrey and a host of family and friends.

Mary will be greatly missed but her legacy lives on in those whom she guided and mentored in the library and genealogy community.
