My grandmother remembers going to the 4th of July fireworks at Lakeside one year, when they let them off from a barge in the middle of the lake. Maybe around 1928 or so? Apparently one of the fireworks came back down and landed on the barge, sending all of the fireworks off at once. I've never looked it up in the newspapers, but she remembers it quite vividly.
